About Me

Hi, I’m Jennifer Natalia — the voice behind all the informative blogs about moving to and living in the Dominican Republic.

Life Learner

I have studied at UASD and continued my education at various institutions throughout the Dominican Republic.

Fashion Career

As a fashion designer by day, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to places like Azua, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, and beyond — both for fashion shows and leisure.

Street Cats

Since moving here, I’ve adopted two street cats — no more rats! We still get the occasional bugs, but I love my cats

Living Below Wants

If you truly want to live here long-term, you have to adapt. Be yourself, enjoy the culture, the people, and the food — but also bring your own culture and identity with you.

Advice From Lived Experience

De lo que me ha pasado: I share what I’ve lived, lo que he tenido que aprender y lo que todavía sigo aprendiendo. Whether it’s about housing, budgeting, or just the day to day, aquí puedes preguntar. If it’s within what I know, I’ll always be happy to share.

Making Progress While Learning

She left without preparation. But truthfully, there’s only so much preparation anyone can do. I may have had one month after I decided I was moving to the Dominican Republic, but everything I’ve learned along the way has been its own preparation. You don’t know what you don’t know—you only discover that while walking the path.

Real Life, Not a Resort

The reality is, you’re not a tourist. Living in the DR isn’t about spending every waking second at a resort with endless buffets or oceanfront views. What makes it beautiful is your vecino asking, “¿Cómo está todo?”… a carrito ride to the corner… even a bachata playing at the colmado. I’ll always enjoy the occasional resort, but that isn’t the whole story.

‘Ponte La Pila’

Get started. Take the first step. Es pa’ hoy—your dreams don’t have to stay in the distance. Figure out what you need, make a plan, and move through the steps. This isn’t a fantasy blog. It’s about real people creating extraordinary realities.
